Course Description
This course is required of all candidates seeking a School of Education doctor of education degree (Ed.D.). All candidates must register for the course each semester, including summer until the capstone proposal is successfully presented and approved.

Rationale
Under the direction of a faculty mentor, the doctoral candidate writes a capstone project proposal in alignment with the most current template. The development of the proposal is in preparation for the capstone proposal presentation. The proposal manuscript must be approved before data collection.
Measurable Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this course, the candidate will be able to:
- Describe the primary elements of the capstone project.
- Describe the primary steps of the capstone research process.
- Develop a timeline for the completion of the capstone project.
- Produce a completed capstone proposal.
- Complete a capstone proposal presentation with the faculty mentor.

The candidate will participate in three Discussions focused on providing a description of previous tasks, current progress, all communication and guidance from the chair, goals for the semester, and challenges the candidate is currently facing. The candidate will complete a quiz that requires the candidate to confirm continually work on the manuscript. Also, the candidate will upload the most recent copy of their manuscript. This upload will not initiate a formal review of the manuscript; however, this manuscript upload will provide a backup copy of the manuscript, provide evidence of progress within the course, and track progress within the program.
