Course Description
The legal thesis developed in the Capstone Legal Research and Writing I course is further developed. Continued development and refinement of the topic, legal research, and drafts are completed. Final submission of thesis for faculty’s evaluations.

Rationale
This course builds upon the legal scholarship introduced in JURI 690. In this course, the student will further develop his or her legal scholarship. The student will provide multiple drafts of the article previously submitted in JURI 690 and will receive substantive feedback for the refinement of the article. The substantive feedback will be provided by a faculty member and will be incorporated into a finished product. At the end of the course, the student will submit the article for faculty evaluation.
Measurable Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:
- Revise drafts of the article created in JURI 690.
- Assess the effectiveness of the arguments made in the article.
- Evaluate grammar, punctuation, and style of writing.
- Defend an argument through the use of cite-checking.
- Demonstrate an understanding of the Bluebook citation method.
- Compose a final draft of the article.
- Analyze all of the preceding in light of a distinctly evangelical Christian worldview.

Discussions (4)
Discussions are collaborative learning experiences. Therefore, the student will create a thread in response to the provided promptly for each Discussion. Each thread must be 250–500 words, demonstrate course-related knowledge, cite at least 1 scholarly source, and integrate biblical principles. In addition to the thread, the student will reply to 2 classmates’ threads. Each reply must be 150–250 words and cite at least 1 scholarly source. Acceptable sources include the course textbook, the Bible, and scholarly articles. All sources must be cited in the current Bluebook format.
Grammar and Punctuation Assignments (5)
These assignments will be taken from the course textbook. The purpose of these assignments is to practice basic citation, grammar, and punctuation skills.
Law Review Article Assignment
The student will continue to revise and edit the article that he or she drafted in JURI 690. The Second Draft will incorporate the feedback the student received following the submission of the First Draft in JURI 690. The student’s Third Draft will incorporate feedback from the Second Draft. The student will submit a Final Draft at the end of the course.
