Course Requirements Checklist
After reading the Syllabus and Student Expectations, the student will complete the related checklist found in the Course Overview.
Discussion
The discussion is a collaborative learning experience. Therefore, the student is required to create a thread in response to the provided prompt.
Group Discussions: Writing Workshop (6)
Workshop Discussions will allow the student to refine his/her draft through peer critique. The student will paste his/her appropriate draft into the discussion board. He/she will then critique all of the group members’ drafts offering line-by-line suggestions. At the end of this line-by-line review with the full text of the classmate’s work in the discussions, the student will write a summation of his/her assessment of the strong and weak components of the submission reviewed.
Writing Selection Outline Assignment (6)
Students will create an outline of the writing they will present in the writing workshops. As this is an outline it is a living document and can be updated. Only one version of this document will be submitted through.
Writing Selection Assignments (6)
Students will submit 750-800 new words weekly to their group and instructor for work shopping. This work will be sequential, meaning that each week’s work is a continuation of the previous week’s writing.
Writing Notes Assignments (6)
Students will compile notes about their writing process in a weekly journal activity. Students will answer questions found within the instructions. The student will use this journal to reflect on readings and writings. This is completed weekly in conjunction with the Writing Selection Assignments.
Writing Reflection Assignment
Students will write a 500-750 word reflection paper at the end of the course exploring their reading and writing throughout the course. Prompts for questions to explore are found within the instructions.
Portfolio Assignment
The student will submit the culmination of their writing in a single document. This will show the writing in the intended form as it would look when submitting it to a publisher.
