Course Description
This course is an in-depth study of turbine engine theory, design, and operations. The student will also receive a broad knowledge of the design and operation of turbine engines and their related systems on transport category aircraft.

Rationale
The purpose of this training is to provide basic information on the operation of the various aircraft turbine engine systems and their components. A pilot must have an in-depth understanding of aircraft systems for the safe completion of a flight.
Measurable Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:
- Demonstrate a working knowledge of turbine engine theory, design, and operations.
- Analyze the development of a turbine-powered aircraft and evaluate areas of potential improvement.
Course Assignment
After reading the Syllabus and Student Expectations, the student will complete the related checklist found in the Course Overview.
Discussions are collaborative learning experiences. Therefore, the student is required to provide a thread in response to the provided prompt for each forum. Each thread must be 300–400 words and demonstrate course-related knowledge. In addition to the thread, the student is required to reply to 2 other classmates’ threads. Each reply must be 150–200 words. (MLO: A)
The student must complete a 25-question quiz on the material from the assigned Modules: Weeks. The quiz will be open-book/open-notes, contain fill-in-the-blank, true/false, and short-answer questions, and have a 180-minute time limit. (MLO: A)
The student will write a minimum of 750-word paper (not including title or bibliography pages) on 1 topic chosen from a list of professor-provided topics. This assignment must be completed in the current APA format and include 2 sources in addition to the course text. After submission, the instructor will provide feedback. Students must take the feedback and make revisions to the first draft of the Research Paper: Topic of Choice Assignment. Once these revisions have been completed, the student must submit a Research Paper: Topic of Choice with Corrections Assignment. (MLO: A, B)
The student must submit a 1750 – 2000 word paper (not including the title reference pages), in current APA format on the history and development of a current series of jet transports. For example, the B-737, the A380, or another aircraft that interests the student. The student must look at the subject from its inception to its current iteration. The student must use at least 5 academic resources such as books, online resources, journals, and articles. (MLO: A, B)
