Course Description
This class will examine N.T. principles of disciple-making and evaluate modern systems and structures. Students will be equipped to develop their disciple-making system in their local church or ministry context.

Rationale
The Great Commission is the marching order for the church of Jesus Christ. The command verb is to “make disciples” and it is surrounded by three modal participles that give us direction. They are: “while you are going” “baptizing” and “teaching/ training them” to obey the commands of Jesus. This course will examine in detail the passages, principles, philosophy, models, and methods of carrying out the Great Commission.

Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:
- Understand the scriptural foundations for disciple/discipleship.
- Analyze the connection between spiritual formation and discipleship.
- Comprehend the philosophical foundations of discipleship.
- Investigate discipleship models.

Discussions are collaborative learning experiences. Therefore, the student is required to create a thread in response to the provided promptly for each forum. Each thread must be at least 750 words and demonstrate course-related knowledge. In addition to the thread, the student is required to reply to 2 other classmates’ threads. Reflection Paper Assignments (5)
The student will write 5 Reflection Papers of at least 1250 words in the current Turabian format that focuses on the topics posed during the course. Each paper must include at least 5 sources and citations in addition to the course textbooks and the Bible. A Cover Page, Contents Page, and Bibliography are required but do not count toward the length requirement. (MLO: A, B, C, D)
Research Paper
You will write a research paper describing in detail a plan for your church/ministry to develop disciples for Jesus Christ and the Great Commission. Following the 5 V’s of ministry format and the A to B planning chart. The overall length of the assignment will be a minimum of 5000 words in the body of the text. Each section of the 5 V’s must be a minimum of 750 words and must have at least 2 biblical references. The paper must include at least 15 references in addition to the course textbooks and the Bible. A Cover Page, Contents Page, and Bibliography are all required. They do not count toward length requirements.

Reading Report Assignment
The student will submit a reading report covering approximately 500 pages of additional course-related reading. The student will choose 1 or 2 books, excluding course textbooks, with at least 250+ pages (if reading 2 books) that complement the topic of discipleship. (MLO: A, B, C, D, E)
