Course Description
This course provides exposure to financial modeling techniques for business analysis applications. Topics include theoretical development, modeling approaches, financial analysis, and applications of financial modeling.

Rationale
Financial modeling concerns the process of constructing spreadsheet models of a firm’s future financial statements to evaluate the company’s past performance, and prospects and to determine its proper valuation. In this course, students will learn and develop advanced Excel spreadsheet skills that are highly valued in today’s business world.
Measurable Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:
- Explain the process of creating an Excel spreadsheet financial model.
- Compare and contrast the components of alternative financial models.
- Analyze the assumptions used in financial models and timelines in the model.
- Create a financial model to evaluate past performance, forecast future trends, and value a business.
- Evaluate financial modeling from a biblical perspective.
