- Explain strategies to overcome reduced nutrient intake in aging.
- Examine the influences of social economic status, physiology, and disease in aging.
- Determine the most accurate and effective methods for assessing nutrition intake in the elderly.
- Investigate the impact of nutrient-drug interactions.
- Compare the challenges of adequate nutrition in aging with the Word of God.
Course Assignment
After reading the Syllabus and Student Expectations, the student will complete the related checklist found in the Course Overview.
The student will complete four Discussions. Each discussion will consist of a thread and at least two replies. The instructor is looking for substantial, thoughtful, and critical discussions.
The student will assume the role of a nutrition care provider to assess and evaluate three case studies related to various chronic diseases. After doing the assigned reading, the student will fully answer all case study questions provided and submit their responses. All assignments must be completed in question-and-answer format and incorporate citations and references in AMA format.
The student will research elderly nutrition programs in their community (federal, state, country, and private). Present a summary of 5 of the programs in your community. Compare and contrast these programs. Be sure to include pertinent information like name, website, location, services, population, eligibility and enrollment, and sources of program funding. Finally, provide a critical analysis of the nutrition aspect of the program.
