Course Description
This course will enable students to learn both the theoretical and pragmatic approaches associated with the skills and competencies of an organizational and professional development consultant. Students will be exposed to consulting, coaching, and change management tools for all levels in the organization, i.e. individual, and group. They will also be exposed to research topics related to organizational change such as organizational assessment and development which they will then apply practically to a case study focusing on an organization’s need for change.

Rationale
This course is designed to expose students to research and scholarship in the areas of both organizational consulting and change. This is an optional I/O concentration course that allows students to be familiar with both research and application related to organizational consulting and change.
Measurable Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:
- Understand the major concepts, theories, methodologies, and empirical findings in organizational consulting and change.
- Assess the methods, designs, and statistical procedures of research applied to organizational consulting and change.
- Evaluate research in organizational consulting and change in the context of biblical thought.
- Apply organizational consulting and change research to practical problems in organizations.
- Produce a research project on organizational consulting and change.

Discussion Assignments (4)
Discussion assignments are collaborative learning experiences. Therefore, the student is required to provide a thread in response to the provided prompt. Each thread must be 900 words (150 words per comment) and demonstrate course-related knowledge. In addition to the thread, the student is required to reply to at least 1 other classmate’s thread. Each reply must be at least 100 words.
Article Outline Assignment
The student will pick one of the twelve articles to complete this article outline assignment. The article outline will present an outline of what the article looked like before it was written. This will include an outline of the literature review, the hypotheses, the method, the results, and the discussion sections. The outline should be a minimum of 250 words.
Midterm Assignment
The midterm Assignment will cover the course materials from the first four modules, Module 1: Week 1 – Module 4: Week 4. The assignment will contain four essay-type questions that will include multiple parts and include content from both the Lowman text and the assigned journal articles. Each question should be a minimum of 250 words for a total of 1,000 words.
Annotated Bibliography Assignment
The student will present an annotated bibliography of twelve articles that will be included in their proposal. Each reference should include a summary of each article’s main elements: rationale/theory, hypotheses, method, results, and discussion. Each reference should be a min. of 100 words.
Individual Consulting Presentation Assignment
The student will present the content from Lowman Chapters 16–29. The student will present for a min. of 20 minutes and will review the textbook content from the last four modules, Module 5: Week 5 – Module 8: Week 8. The student will have discretion on how this is completed but must cover as much material as possible in the 20 minutes that he or she presents.
Research Proposal Assignment (4)
The student’s main assignment for this course is to come up with a research proposal on one of the eight areas addressed in the assigned journal articles for the first four modules. The assignment will have 4 parts. The first part is presenting the idea by coming up with an outline and research questions. The second part will include the literature review and method section and the third section will include the proposed results and discussion sections. Each part will be reviewed by the professor and should be compiled and put together for a final proposal that will include all the previous three parts.
