Course Description

This course prepares students for writing and research in aviation. Students in this course explore, analyze, and synthesize aviation literature. These skills will be applied in an APA research paper

Rationale

The purpose of this course is to prepare students to work in the field of aviation applying their expertise with a biblical perspective.  Specifically, this course will investigate how to research and write appropriately explaining biblical principles in aviation, leadership, ethics, and risks.

Measurable Learning Outcomes

Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:

1. Apply a Biblical worldview to aviation research.
2. To critically review & summarize aviation research.
3. Write a literature review using 3-5 research references.
4. Define and prevent Plagiarism.
5. Correlate a Biblical worldview during critical analysis and discussion board participation

Course Requirements Checklist

After reading the Syllabus and Student Expectations, the student will complete the related checklist found in the Course Overview.

Discussion: Class Introductions

The student will complete the Discussion: Class Introductions in a visual presentation format.  The visual presentation must include a five-minute maximum recorded video presentation introducing themselves to their other classmates. The student will then reply to 2 of their other classmates’ videos with a reply of at least 150 words.

Discussions are collaborative learning experiences. Therefore, you are required to create a thread in response to the provided prompt for each forum. (MLO: A, B, E)

Article Review Assignments (3)

The student will research and select one article that was written five years ago or less on a topic of their choosing in the field of aviation.  The student will write a 2-3-page (not including title, abstract, and reference page) analysis of the article and offer a critique of the article, including a Biblical worldview. (MLO: A, B, C, D, E)

Research Paper Assignment

During the length of this course, the student will write a 15-page (not including title, abstract, and reference page) Research Paper.  The student should select a topic that is interesting to them.  The topic should have a narrow focus on aviation.  The paper must be in APA format and utilize proper spelling, grammar, and references. Be sure to read the instructions and rubric for expectations.

There are four elements to the Research Paper:

3. Research Paper: Part 2 — Group Peer Review Assignment
4. Research Paper: Part 3 Assignment

Reflection Paper Assignment

The student will write a 2-3 page paper (not including title, abstract, and reference page) reflecting on what they have learned through this course.  The paper should include what was learned from the journal readings, textbook readings, or things that were learned in preparation for the assignments.
