Download Guided AVMX 418-Principles of Troubleshooting
Course Description
This course will provide the students with a logical and systematic process for troubleshooting aircraft systems. The student will learn and understand processes of troubleshooting and then apply them to realistic aviation problems to refine their troubleshooting skills.
For information regarding the prerequisites for this course, please refer to the Academic Course Catalog.
Rationale
The purpose of AVMX418 is to equip students with foundational troubleshooting skills that may be applied across a broad range of scenarios through metacognition and the application of logic. The introduction of critical thinking skills, troubleshooting models, and interactive scenarios will provide the student opportunity to apply textbook knowledge to live problems.
This course will develop the student’s abilities to systematically and logically approach failures. The aviation industry places high demands on the advanced critical thinking skills required to resolve complex problems. Ensuring Liberty University SOA graduates have a logical troubleshooting skillset prepares them to lead in the aviation maintenance environment.
Measurable Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:
- Analyze the advantages and disadvantages of each of the troubleshooting models covered in this course.
- Apply various troubleshooting processes to complex problems both in and outside of an aviation context to efficiently reach a solution.
- Perform a root cause analysis as part of their diagnostic process and create countermeasures to prevent a recurrence.
- Identify barriers to the troubleshooting process and how to overcome them.
- Evaluate aircraft accidents and identify breakdowns in the critical thinking process.
