Course Description
This course examines key public policy and legal issues, trends, and strategies related to religious liberty. Students will also examine and articulate recommendations for policy in this context and identify future legal challenges and issues.

Rationale
In an increasingly secular society, religious liberty is an increasingly salient issue. This course provides students with the key historical, Constitutional, and Biblical concepts relevant to understanding and defending religious liberty in today’s legal, political, and public policy contexts.
Measurable Learning Outcomes
Upon completion of this course, the student will be able to:
- Identify religious liberty.
- Explain the elements of religious liberty.
- Identify key public policies, legal issues, and trends that are related to religious liberty.
- Articulate recommendations for policy improvements or changes that affect religious liberty.
- Identify future legal challenges and issues that may affect religious liberty.

Discussions (4)
Discussions are collaborative learning experiences. Therefore, the student is required to provide a main thread in response to the provided promptly for each discussion. Each main thread must be at least 450-500 words and demonstrate course-related knowledge. In addition to the thread, the student is required to reply to at least 2 other classmates’ threads. Each reply must be at least 200-250 words.
Case Analysis Assignments (3)
Case Analysis Assignments are opportunities to engage deeply with a specific topic or writing, based upon the prompt. Each student is required to conduct a robust analysis, demonstrating their critical thinking on the chosen topic. Each analysis assignment should be 3-5 pages and in APA format.
Research Paper Assignment
The Research Paper Assignment serves as the capstone assignment for the class. Students will choose one of several topics and provide an 8-10 page analysis on that topic. The paper should be a focused, critical application of the principles discussed in the course.
