A thorough investigation of the fourth Gospel, highlighting the person and work of Jesus Christ, God’s own Son. Differences between this Gospel and the Synoptics will be considered.

Rationale
This course explores the Gospel of John and its subject, Jesus Christ, as well as issues related to both topics in order to edify the student’s faith and equip him/her for effective ministry.
Measurable Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:
- Identify the Old Testament feasts in John.
- Construct a chronological timeline of the life of Jesus Christ as shown in John.
- Analyze how the deity of Christ is developed in the Gospel of John.
- Compare the Gospel of John with the three synoptic Gospels.
- Articulate the case for John the Apostle as the author of the Fourth Gospel.
- Evaluate various views of the Gospel of John critically in light of what is taught in this course.
- Relate principles from the Gospel of John to his/her own life.

Gospel of John Timeline Assignment
With the use of the Gospel of John and the Towns textbook, students will construct a chronological timeline of the life of Jesus Christ according to John’s Gospel. (MLO: B)
A central theme within the Gospel of John is the deity of Jesus Christ. John displays this through several features and supporting themes within his book. For this assignment, students are to create a Mind Map, with Jesus’ Deity in the center and then branch out with the different themes and ways that John displays His deity. (MLO: C)
Quizzes (5)
Students will take 5 quizzes covering the course reading and presentations. Quizzes contain anywhere from 40 multiple-choice, true/false, and matching questions, are open-book/open-notes and must be completed in 90 minutes. Throughout the course, students must read the Gospel of John twice and the assigned Towns and Morris textbook readings. The Bible readings in each module must be read through twice to ensure the requirement is met. Quiz: Reading Report assesses how much of the assigned reading was completed. (MLOs: B, E, F)
