Creating multiple digital images through a varied methodology. Preparing digitized art for electronic media and printed pages through electronic pre-press techniques. Training in a professional image-editing application. (Formerly ARTS 351)

Rationale
Training in a professional image editing software application is crucial to the development of a graphic and media designer. The ability to create, manipulate, edit and create digital images from photos and other digital media is a required skill set for anyone entering these or related fields.
Measurable Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:
- Analyze various technical methodologies for creating digital images.
- Apply techniques for importing and digitizing images.
- Create effective, high-quality illustrations and photos.
- Evaluate various forms of digital imagery created for artistic expression.

Discussions (2)
Discussions are collaborative learning experiences. Therefore, the student is required to create a thread in response to the provided prompt for each Discussion. Each thread must be at least 200 words and demonstrate course-related knowledge. In addition to the thread, the student is required to reply to 2 other classmates’ threads. Each reply must be at least 100 words.
Quizzes (7)
Each quiz will cover the Learn material for the Module: Week in which it is assigned. Each quiz will be open-book/open-notes, contain 5-15 multiple-choice and true/false questions, and have up to an 18-minute time limit.
Design Project Assignments (8)
The student will implement the creative process and apply learnings of digital imaging to create various projects focusing on using certain tools within Adobe Photoshop
Design Project: Collage Assignment
The student will demonstrate software knowledge by combining several photos on different layers within Photoshop. Take one photoshop file and create a collage showcasing things about yourself, hobbies, family, etc.
Design Project: Layers Assignment
The student will demonstrate software knowledge by combining at least 3 photos on different layers within Photoshop to create a scenery.
Design Project: Color Assignment
The student will use the tools and features of photos, to take their black-and-white photos to the next level. You will demonstrate using the selection and coloring tools to add a splash of color to a black-and-white photo. The overall goal is to bring a dull photo back to life by coloring the components to make them seem life-like
Design Project: Crop Assignment
The student will take 2 different pictures and make them into a mash-up that is completely integrated testing their photoshop ability and creativity.
Design Project: Retouching Assignment
The student will use tools like Content Aware, Retouching, or cloning you will be taking an object out of a photo.
Design Project: Movie Poster Assignment
The student will plan and create a movie poster in Photoshop choosing appropriate typefaces, and adjusting the hue, value, and saturation of color harmonies to create appropriate and aesthetically pleasing color harmonies that foster legible type. The movie poster will be a mock for the movie “Outside walls”. Choose images that can be manipulated together to create a scenery from the movie.
Design Project: Animation Milestone Assignment
The student will submit sketches of what they plan for their animation to be in Design Project 7 or a rough GIF to show their beginning stages
Design Project: Animation Assignment
The student will use the timeline feature of photoshop to create a simple animation introducing themselves. You can choose to either use frame animation or video timeline settings.
