Discussions are collaborative learning experiences. Therefore, the student is required to create a thread in response to the provided prompt for each thread. Each thread must demonstrate course-related knowledge while also sharing experiences related to class concepts. In addition, the student is required to reply to at least 2 classmates.
Summary-Analysis-Reflection Assignments (3) (MLO: B, D; CIL: 1, 2, 3, 5)
The student will write a paper on selected chapters of Whatever Happened to Worship: A Call to True Worship by A.W. Tozer. The paper should consist of three sections: Summary, Analysis, and Reflection. The paper should conform to Turabian formatting, use proper citations, and be a minimum of 3 pages.
The purpose of the Worship Devotional Project is to practice communicating important principles of worship. Over the course, the student will develop two devotionals related to the core content in the class. The phases of the project are as follows: Worship Devotional Plan – For this assignment, the student will complete a worksheet to prepare for writing the devotionals. Devotionals 1 & 2 – For these assignments, the student will develop a devotional, utilizing the information from the Worship Devotional Planning Assignment worksheet and worship principles from selected modules.
Hymn Project Assignments (2) (MLO: A, C, D; CIL: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5)
In this project, the student must research the biographical history of 2 hymns chosen from the list provided. There are 2 parts to this project: Research Plan – the student will complete a worksheet detailing which 2 hymns were chosen, who the authors/composers were, and an annotated bibliography with a minimum of 5 sources. The annotations for each source will be 2-3 sentences. Research Paper – The research paper will consist of any story related to the writing of the hymns; a brief biographical overview of the author of the lyrics; a brief biographical overview of the composer of the music; and any other interesting facts related to the use of the song in the corporate or personal worship setting. The report must include a minimum of 5 references and 5 footnotes. The paper must include a title page, contents page, body of the paper, and bibliography. The research paper will be presented in a representative fashion of a major research paper. All rules of formatting and citations, for every part of the research paper, will adhere strictly to Turabian Style Writing.
Quiz: Turabian Investigation (MLO: A, B; CIL: 1, 2, 4)
The student will take a 20-question, multiple-choice, and true/false, quiz about material found in the Turabian Formatting Guide. The investigation will cover issues of formatting and citation requirements, as they pertain to Turabian Style Writing.
Each quiz will cover the Learn material for the assigned modules. Each quiz will be open-book/open-notes, contain 25 multiple-choice and true/false questions, and have a 45-minute time limit.
