This course will introduce the student to Adobe InDesign. Specific skills taught include creating, editing, and publishing a created document to various media formats.

The purpose of this course is to introduce students to Adobe InDesign, an industry-standard digital page layout program. Students will learn how to create, edit, and publish created documents in various media formats. These learning objectives fit within all disciplines of study at the university to add to the digital and technological skillsets of the students.
Measurable Learning Results
Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:
- Demonstrate ethical behavior in digital media publications.
- Define basic digital media concepts and terminology.
- Create and publish original content in multiple digital formats.
- Create rich interactive media embedded in the published content.
Technological Solutions and Quantitative Reasoning (TSQR): the ability to apply technology and mathematics to analyze information, establish plans, and predict outcomes in various contexts.
TSQR1: Analyze data and inform action through a structured method.
TSQR 2: Predict the output based on input in practical scenarios using technological solutions and/or quantitative reasoning.
TSQR 3: Apply the skills needed for successful financial stewardship in various contexts.
TSQR 4: Relate technology and quantitative reasoning to participation in God’s redemptive work.

Course Requirements Checklist
After reading the Course Syllabus and Student Expectations, the student will complete the related checklist found in the Course Overview.
Discussions are collaborative learning experiences. Therefore, the student is required to write a thread in response to the provided prompt. Each thread must be at least 250 words and demonstrate course-related knowledge. For Discussion 3, the student will create the biography portion of the Final Project. In addition to the thread, the student is required to reply to 2 other classmates’ threads. Each reply must be at least 125 words.
The student will complete a short 10-question quiz covering the assigned reading in Module: Week.
InDesign Assignments (7)
The student will complete projects based on the required presentations and/or textbook readings. The student will be required to recreate assignments taught in a presentation or create an assignment/project based on textbook instructions.
Final Project Assignments (2)
The student will create a 2-page InDesign flyer about him/herself using photos and text that will demonstrate his/her ability to create a project from scratch, incorporate concepts covered in the course, and utilize the principles of design. The Final Project will begin in Module 6: Week 6 with the Discussion. In Module 7: Week 7, the student will turn in the first page of the Final Project. In Module 8: Week 8, the student will turn in both pages of the Final Project.
