Rationale

This course incorporates the Core Competencies for Interprofessional Collaboration for Health Care into principles and concepts of continuous quality improvement in health care for outcomes management. The doctor of nursing practice nurse must be prepared to lead Interprofessional collaborative teams to identify issues of quality improvement and safety, apply concepts and tools for quality and process improvement, and assess and evaluate outcomes. Additionally, this course provides the student with knowledge and skills to operationalize continuous quality improvement processes in a variety of healthcare settings, including primary care, public health, nursing, healthcare organizations, and emerging initiatives in resource-poor countries to manage outcomes.

Teams of 2–3 students will work on a Continuous Quality Improvement Plan.
