Discussions (2)
Discussions are collaborative learning experiences. Therefore, the student will be required to participate in and answer discussion questions throughout the course. Answers to the discussion questions must be well-thought-out, presented using good grammar, and spelling, and to the point.
Each Discussion will be divided into 2 parts: a thread in response to the instructor’s prompt and a reply to 2 classmates’ threads. Thus, to earn full credit for each discussion, the interaction must include 1 thread and 2 replies. Each thread must be 400–500 words and must incorporate a biblical concept and at least 1 resource (e.g., a textbook or a scholarly journal). Each reply must be no less than 200 words. Discussion posts must be made in the current APA format.
Leadership Journal Assignments (5)
Based on the assigned reading, the student will answer questions in paragraph form using the current APA format. All answers will be compiled in a Word document provided in Canvas. Citations from the assigned reading are required in answering the questions. The length of the paper will be 5–7 pages (this includes a title page and the reference page).
A primary aim of this course is self-development. This assignment asks the student to document the development journey that he/she will take in the context of the course. The student will keep a leadership journal of insights/questions/lessons/plans throughout the term based on the readings, assignments, and his/her experiences.
Leadership PowerPoint Presentation Assignment
Section A: Compare and contrast the styles and approaches of two successful sports leaders. Students are to evaluate the traits, personality, history, experience, and values of each leader. Specifically, discuss the leadership skills and leadership style of each sports leader. Examine their approaches to leadership and apply one of the five contingency theories of leadership to each sports leader. Minimum of 10, no more than 15 slides.
Section B: Student will then explain in detail their leadership style and approach, as well as lessons learned from the textbook readings and how the two sports leaders have influenced their leadership style. Additionally, explain how you plan to implement your leadership style and approach in your current or future job position or organization. Minimum of 15 slides for this section.
Cite at least four direct quotes (include two quotes from the Leadership text, include the citation with page number). Direct quotes should be short (no more than one sentence). Include a reference slide with a minimum of 5 distinct references following APA formatting guidelines.
The PowerPoint Presentation must be no less than 25-30 PowerPoint slides.
