Course Description

This is the second of three courses in a general survey of Bible doctrine designed to synthesize and outline the following major areas of systematic theology: the doctrine of the Holy Spirit (Pneumatology), the doctrine of Man (Anthropology), the doctrine of Sin (Hamartiology), the doctrine of Angels (Angelology), and doctrine of Satan (Satanology).

Rationale

Willmington School of the Bible provides its students with a holistic understanding of the Scriptures. In so doing, it is necessary to develop a thorough understanding of Christian doctrine as it is presented throughout the Bible. This course, together with THEO 107 and THEO 109, provides students with a firm theological grounding that will serve as a guide in “rightly dividing the word of truth” (2 Timothy 2:15 [KJV]).

Measurable Learning Outcomes

Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:

1. Analyze the doctrines of the Holy Spirit, Man, Satan, and Angels as they are presented in this course.
2. Interact cordially with others of differing theological perspectives.
3. Explain the entire inductive method to another person.
4. Describe the basic concepts and definitions of the doctrines of the Holy Spirit, Man, Satan, and Angels.
5. Discuss the implications of theology for Christian life and personal ministry.
6. Answer questions of personal interest concerning the world and God.
7. Apply truths and principles associated with each major doctrinal study.

Discussions (4)

The student is required to create a thread in response to the provided topic for each discussion. Each thread is to be 300-450 words and support assertions with at least 2 citations in the current Turabian format. In addition to the thread, the student is required to reply to 2 other classmates’ threads. Each reply must be between 100-250 words and support assertions with at least 1 citation for each reply in the current Turabian format. (MLOs: A, B, D, E, F, G)

Essay Assignments (4)

The student will construct 4 essays based on prompts provided by the instructor.  Two prompts will be provided for each essay and these prompts must be fully explored in 1000 – 1300 words. The essays for the corresponding Module: Week will be submitted in a single Word document. (MLOs: A, C, D, E, F, G)

Quizzes (4)

Each quiz will cover the Learn material for the Modules: Weeks in which it is assigned. Each quiz will be open-book/open-notes, contain 20 multiple-choice and true/false questions, and have a time limit of 90 minutes. (MLOs: A, D, G)
