Course Summary

In this course, the student will identify a ministry problem and create a micro-project demonstrating the biblical precedence for addressing this ministry problem. In other words, this course establishes why something should be done to address this ministry problem.

Rationale

The Bible sets the precedent for addressing ministry problems; therefore, students must have an acute awareness of what the Bible teaches regarding any ministry problem addressed.

Measurable Learning Outcomes

Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:

  1. Construct a researchable micro-problem statement.
  2. Create a viable defense for the biblical precedent for their stated ministry problem.
  3. Prepare one or more micro-projects that represent the findings of their biblical precedent report.

Course Assignment

After reading the Course Syllabus and Student Expectations, the student will complete the related checklist found in the Course Overview.

Discussions are collaborative learning experiences. Therefore, the student is required to provide a thread in response to the provided prompt for each discussion. Each thread must be at least 300 words and demonstrate course-related knowledge. In addition to the thread, the student is required to reply to 1 other classmate’s thread. Each reply must be at least 300 words. Sources are encouraged. Any sources cited must have been published within the last ten years, and sources should be formatted in the proper current Turabian format.  (MLOs: A, B)

The student will answer various prompts related to their decision-making process as to which micro-project they will do in this class based on multiple factors. (MLO: A, B)

The student will select the most appropriate approach to solving a problem from a variety of options, justifying and completing the project, and reporting on its efficacy. It combines the best of both worlds of academics and hands-on approaches to problem-solving. Each option is divided into four phases to aid in the successful completion of the project, assuming that the student organizes their work and manages their time well. (MLO: C)

The student will assess the entire process as well as the six weeks up to this point. Assessment includes the value of the work, the contribution to it, and its long-lasting effects on ministry and learning. (MLO: B)

This assignment focuses on a time of meditation and reflection. In a well-edited single-spaced, one-page Word document, the student will begin a reflection based on the prompt options.

This reflection focuses on the student’s time, effort, application, and spiritual growth achieved during the course. Citations and Turabian formatting are not required. (MLO: C)

The quiz contains a mixture of multiple-choice, true/false, and short-answer questions. The student will have 1 hour to complete all 25 questions. The student is given one attempt for this quiz. This quiz is open-book/open-notes. The student may refer to the Justification for Selected Micro-Projects Study Guide from Module 1: Week 1. (MLO: C)
