Every teacher should be able to explain and defend his/her philosophy and explain how it differs from other philosophical positions. It is beneficial, if not imperative, for Christian educators to understand the philosophical and ideological issues that impact education.
Measurable Learning Outcomes
Upon successful completion of this course, the candidate will be able to:

- Evaluate values concerning various historical events impacting the philosophy and practical application of education. (PRE-A1)
- Apply Christian perspectives to educational philosophy, learning theories, and strategies. (PRE-A, B, C)
- Compare various educational systems and their socio-cultural contexts. (PRE-A1, B2)
- Articulate a personal philosophy of education. (PRE-A1, C5, B4, B2)
The candidate will read the assigned chapters, and other readings and watch the lecture presentations associated with each module. Quizzes will come from this information. (MLO: A, B, C, D, E)

The candidate will be assigned to one of seven educational philosophies. Individually, each student will create one teaching tool that helps others learn about the core tenets of the educational philosophy chosen. A comparison of the assigned philosophy to Biblical principles should be included. Three citations from three sources in addition to the Bible are required in the current APA format. Discussions are collaborative learning experiences. Therefore, the candidate is required to provide a thread in response to the provided promptly for each forum. Each thread must be 200 words and demonstrate course-related knowledge, including required readings, presentations, and the Bible.
