Course Description

A practical study of Church Ministry with emphasis given to its biblical foundation, philosophy of ministry, and the various areas of pastoral ministry.

For information regarding the prerequisites for this course, please refer to the Academic Course Catalog.

Rationale

The church is experiencing an identity crisis. Many experts believe that America is entering into a post-Christian era. This cultural shift from the traditional Judeo-Christian ethic has resulted in a void in the church. This course is designed to clarify the role of the church for the twenty-first century. It is a practical study for the vocational ministry student as well as for those students who desire to be more informed about their roles as lay people in the church.

  1. Explain his/her calling to one’s ministerial service.
  2. Develop a personal theology for pastoral ministry, preaching ministry, and administrative ministry.
  3. Create a ministry plan based on a specific ministry context.
  4. Demonstrate an understanding of pastoral ministry.
